The IBRIXIO industrial gateway reads OPC UA and Modbus TCP data close to the machines. It keeps a local buffer in case of network outage and synchronizes events to the platform when connectivity is restored. What is a MES?

What is the difference between a MES and an ERP?

An ERP manages business processes (orders, stock, purchasing, finance). A MES manages production execution (machine data, downtime, OEE, batches, quality). The two systems are complementary and address different needs.

How does IBRIXIO connect to machines?

Through an industrial gateway installed close to the equipment. It reads PLCs via OPC UA or Modbus TCP, formats signals and synchronizes them to the platform over an authenticated channel.

What happens during a network outage?

The gateway's local buffer keeps collected data during the outage. Once connectivity is restored, data is automatically synchronized to the platform, with no loss.

Why monitor OEE?

OEE combines availability, performance and quality in a single comparable indicator. It surfaces hidden losses (micro-stops, slow downs, scrap) and supports objective comparison across lines, shifts and periods.

Why standardize downtime reasons?

An unplanned stop without a recorded reason cannot be analyzed. Capturing standardized reasons at the source (categories, sub-reasons) allows losses to be cumulated by cause and structural actions to be prioritized instead of reacting case by case.
